How to add photos, videos, products, and updates

This lesson covers

  • Which photos customers want to see
  • How to add short videos
  • How to add products
  • How to use updates, offers, and events

Short answer

Add real photos of your storefront, interior, team, and products to your Google Business Profile, plus short videos of the space or work. Use the Products section to show items with prices. Post updates, offers, and events regularly so customers see an active business. Fresh visual content helps customers choose you.

Photos customers want to see

Customers want to know what to expect before they visit. Add photos that answer their questions:

  • Exterior: your storefront from the street, so people recognize it when they arrive.
  • Interior: seating, counters, rooms, or work areas.
  • Team: staff at work, which builds trust.
  • Products and work: dishes, items, or before and after results.
  • Logo and cover photo: your brand and best overall image.

Use real, well lit photos. Avoid stock images and heavy filters.

Add short videos

Short clips can show a place better than photos. Google accepts short videos, up to about 30 seconds. A walk through a resort room or a quick clip of a busy kitchen works well.

Use the Products section

Products let you show items or packages with a photo, name, description, and price. A café might add its top drinks. A spa might add massage packages.

Products help on mobile, where customers scroll your profile quickly.

Post updates, offers, and events

Updates are short posts on your profile. You can share:

  • news, like new branches or new services
  • offers, with dates and terms
  • events, like a fiesta promo or workshop

Post at least a few times a month. Use a clear photo and one call to action, such as Call now or Book.

Watch customer photos

Customers can upload their own photos. Check them often. Report any that break Google’s rules, like unrelated or offensive images.

Try it

Sort each photo idea.

Is this a good profile photo?

  • Clear daytime shot of your storefront and sign

  • A stock image of a smiling model

  • Your team preparing orders

  • A blurry photo with heavy filters

Quick quiz

1. Why add exterior photos?
2. What can you add in the Products section?
3. Which is a type of profile update?

Common mistakes

  • Using stock photos. They make profiles look fake.
  • Posting once, then stopping. A stale profile looks inactive.
  • Ignoring customer uploads. Some may be wrong or off-topic.

Questions beginners ask

How many photos should I add?

There is no magic number. Start with a solid set covering outside, inside, team, and products, then add new ones monthly.

Can I remove bad customer photos?

You can report photos that break Google's policies. Photos that are simply unflattering usually stay, so add better ones.

Do posts help rankings?

Their direct effect is unclear. They help customers see you are active and can lead to more calls and clicks.
