What the UTM Link Builder does

UTM parameters are short tags added to the end of a link, like ?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=paid_social. When someone clicks, Google Analytics 4 reads the tags and records exactly which campaign, platform, and ad brought the visit.

Without UTMs, many visits land in GA4 as Direct or a vague Referral, and you cannot tell which post or email worked. This builder adds the parameters correctly, can force lowercase so Facebook and facebook do not split into two sources, and keeps a history you can export as a CSV.

    How to use it

    1. Enter the landing page URLUse the full address, starting with https://, of the page people should land on.
    2. Fill in source, medium, and campaignSource is where the click comes from, medium is the type of traffic, and campaign is your promotion name. All three are required.
    3. Add optional detailsUse content to tell two ads or links apart, and term for paid keywords.
    4. Copy and saveCopy the finished link into your ad, post, or email, and add it to history to keep a record.

    Tips for better results

    • Agree on naming rules with your team, such as always lowercase with underscores. Consistent names keep GA4 reports clean.
    • Use standard mediums like cpc, email, and paid_social so GA4 sorts traffic into the right default channels.
    • Never add UTMs to internal links on your own site. They overwrite the original source of the visit.
