SERP Snippet Preview
See how your title tag, URL, and meta description could appear in Google search results on desktop and mobile, measured in pixels like Google truncates them.
Runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server.
Pixel limits are approximate: about 600px for titles and 920px (desktop) or 680px (mobile) for descriptions. Google can also rewrite snippets.
What the SERP Snippet Preview does
A SERP snippet preview shows how a page might appear in Google’s search results: the blue title link, the URL path, and the gray description underneath. Seeing it before publishing helps you write snippets that get clicked.
Google cuts off titles and descriptions by width in pixels, not by a fixed number of characters. Wide letters like W and M use more space than i and l. This tool measures your text in pixels, roughly 600px for titles and about 920px for desktop descriptions or 680px on mobile, and shows where the text would be trimmed.
How to use it
- Enter your title tagType the page title. The bar turns red when it is likely to be cut off.
- Add the URL and descriptionUse the real page URL and your meta description. The preview shows the URL as a breadcrumb path, like Google does.
- Highlight your keywordAdd the search phrase. Google bolds matching words in descriptions, which draws the eye.
- Switch between desktop and mobileCheck both views. Mobile shows less description text, so put the most important words first.
Tips for better results
- Put the main keyword near the start of the title so it stays visible even if the end gets trimmed.
- Write the description as a reason to click: what the page offers, who it is for, and one concrete detail.
- Google may rewrite titles and descriptions it finds vague or stuffed. Clear, honest text that matches the page is rewritten less often.
Frequently asked questions
How long should a title tag be?
Aim for about 50 to 60 characters, staying under roughly 600 pixels. The pixel bar in this tool is the more reliable guide.
How long should a meta description be?
About 120 to 160 characters usually fits. Mobile shows less, so lead with the key message.
Will Google always show my snippet like this?
Not always. Google can change the snippet to match a specific search. The preview shows how your own text would display.
